How to: Wavy Hair with No Heat - in less than an hour!

Hi all!!! Here is a simple way to get stylish wavy hair – and the whole process takes less than an hour!!!

Start with freshly washed hair that has been air dried or blow dried (it doesn’t really make a difference). Basically, start with what your hair would look like after you had taken a shower and dried them. Try not to use any products that weigh the hair in addition to what you’ll be using for this styling technique, because it will remove the volume from this look.

You will need a mousse that will add volume and texture to your hair. A great product that I have personally fallen in love with is the Lorvenn Paris X-Style Super Curl Mousse

It actually does what it promised to do: maintain the curls and the hair’s natural elasticity and texture without weighing on the hair. The problem with most of the other mousse products I had previously tried was that they would make the hair too stiff without actually holding the style.

One product is all you'll need! If your hair is very dry, you might want to add a moisturizing serum to the ends only.

Equally spread the mousse all over your hair, making sure to not add too much on the roots, because it might make them oily. You can flip your hair upside down for better control.

Separate your hair into sections. Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, you can choose to add or remove sections, but I think that separating them into at least four sections (two on the lower part of your hear and two on the top of your head) will add more style as the curls will form differently and your hairstyle will look more layered.

Start twisting each section around itself (like in the picture to the left); you can twist the lower sections whichever way you want (towards the face or away) but definitely twist the upper sections away from the face. Also, try to make the upper sections as high as you can (almost at the top of your head) so you can get more volume if you wish to.

After twisting each section, wrap it around itself and secure it in place with an elastic band or a bobby pin. By the end, you should have four little “meatballs” on your head :P

Spray some hairspray on if your hair doesn’t hold curls easily and let your hair sit like this for as long as you can afford, but 45 minutes to an hour is more than enough. The longer you leave it, the tighter the curls will be.

Your sections should look like this...

When ready, untangle each “meatball”, flip over and run your hands through your hair to “open” the curls and make them look more natural. Flip your hair again and style accordingly. I love splitting my hair on the side, because I feel it makes the curls look more elegant and stylish.

That’s it! You get lovely wavy hair without the use of a heating tools or having to sleep uncomfortably because your hair is wrapped up in something weird :P In order to wear your hair the same way on the next day, simply split it again into the number of sections you had before, repeat the same twisting process and let it sit. Easy, fast and stylish!

Enjoy ;)

How to: Create a Rock Chic Look!

Leather, bold prints, spikes, studded shirts, tights and interesting cuts are in style so there has never been a better time to try out a rock chic look! Rock chic is all about the above things and unites style, colors, designs and unique accessories in a fun way that can borrow elements from glam but also from punk! In the following article, you can find some ideas as to how to incorporate this style into your daily outfits as well as how to style things up for a casual occasion or a more formal event.

Let’s start with the everyday look...

Aside from the fact that rock chic is very stylish, it is also very comfortable! Start out with a pair or skinny black jeans. You can also opt for a pair of jeans with leather pads or designs. If you feel like adding color, go for it. A couple of years ago, I bought a purple pair of skinny jeans and it has been one of the greatest purchases in my life (and I’m not the biggest fan of color when it comes to clothes). You can also try pants with a leopard print design or cuts.

Some ideas...

Experiment with what you feel more comfortable with and what you want to stand out in your outfit. For example, if you want your jewelry to be the center of your outfit, dress everything else down – otherwise, it might look a bit too much. You can even opt for leggings instead!

Moving on to your top...

Depending on what time of day you’re dressing for, you can choose a top that suits the occasion and still look rock chic. If you’re just running errands go for an oversize shirt with some fun design on it.

Or try a fitted top with some spikes!

There are a lot of fabrics to choose from so if you feel like you want to glam things up a bit and still rock it, try a shirt with metallic details or a lace blouse! You can even try a leopard print design as well (just make sure you’re not wearing leopard print pants as well); maybe a see-through button up shirt with a tank top underneath.

Of course, a rocker chic look can never be completed without some leather!

Look for a comfortable leather jacket that is fitted, it will make you feel extra cool and it won’t make your waist disappear. If you want, you can add some fur to your leather and make it a little more glamorous ;P

Burgundy is also a very popular color for this season, so maybe your jacket can have that color!

If you want to go for a more casual look without the fur and whatnot, go for a classic leather jacket with a fitted waist none the less.

Jackets needs to be comfortable but it won’t be good if you look like the Michelin Man in leather…

Time for shoes!

I absolutely love-love-love my rocker booties! They are so comfortable and can easily be worn day and night with the right outfit. Again, there are so many designs to choose from so if spiky boots are not your thing, go for a design with metallic details or plain black ones (but I always think that a pop of metallic makes a bigger statement).

If you don’t feel like wearing biker boots, you can always wear your comfy flats and be on your way. Iron fist makes some of the coolest looking shoes I have ever seen and their flats are really fun! They definitely dress up an outfit and give it that extra something to complete a rock chic look.

Another choice can be sneakers!

I bought these from the Alexander McQueen-Puma collaboration and they are very comfortable but they also add an extra bit of style to my outfit.

Bag!!!!

Your bag is something that is seen at all times and can really add to a rock chic look. It doesn’t have to have chains and spikes, it’s more about the strong design and size. An oversize bag that fits everything is a good choice or a medium sized one. And it doesn’t have to be black! Choose a fun color that stands out and give a different feel to your outfit.

Here is my Big Buddha bag that I got off of Amazon a few months back…

And some other bags I thought looked nice

Nails and Accessories!

They say the devil is in the details and I couldn’t agree more. Because I usually opt for a monochromatic rock chic style, I love adding little pops of color along the way, like glittered nails or a brightly colored bag. However, there are various darker colors that you can choose for your nails. Any item that has the color of oxidized blood is huge this season so you should totally try that out!

Some other nail design ideas...

In terms of accessories, there are two ways to go with this without making it look like you buy your jewelry from a blacksmith. You can choose a statement piece and wear just that or go for some cool earrings with crosses, wings, skulls, flowers, animals, diamonds, or even feather ones!

Now, let’s see how we can use rock chic items for a night time look. You can always go for the classic pants and shirt but there’s so much more you can do with rock chic outfits! The cool thing about rock chic is that you can use fun designs like shirts with crosses on the back or blouses that leave the shoulders out and use them as the center of your outfit!

Another cool thing with rock chic is that you can take a totally innocent looking piece, like a cute lace dress and totally rock it out!

Combine the lace dress with a leather jacket, an envelope bag with a snake skin design or a pair of lace boots like the ones shown on the right and you’re instantly creating a unique look for the night.

Heels like these are a pretty good choice for a night-time rock chic outfit!

You can also choose a shirt that leaves your back exposed or has metallic details around the neck. In the end, you can also choose the always classic little black dress and combine it with some statement accessories, as an alternative.

Some dresses with a rock chic feel :)

Lace, leopard print, leather, spikes, diamond cross designs, and colors like dark red, blue, purple, grey, white and many more are some good choices for a rock chic outfit.

Hair and Makeup…

The general rule would be to go with a nice cat eye look or a smoky look. But for me, rock chic is not so much about the make up as it is about the clothing. Your make up can be natural and you still would look rock chic. So do whatever you want with it. For the record, dark lips for a night-time rock chic look would be pretty awesome!

For the hair, again, I would say it doesn’t matter much what you do… Obviously, you can go for a braided hairstyle that can contrast your rocker outfit or just try out a straight hair look. I prefer wavy looks for the day and straight for nightly outings or special occasions.

All of the above tips are not meant to be used as rules! If anything, that's the fun thing with fashion - you can do whatever you want with it and create new trends in the process. So follow your own personal style and just have fun with it! I hope you found these few tips useful none the less :)
