SK-II Whitening Source DermDefinition UV Lotion SPF 50 PA+++ Review

Hi :)

As you all know, I ordered a few beauty items from yesstyle.com a few days ago and I’ve been testing out the products. I really recommend you try out the website’s sample packs: they come with 8 beauty items from either Japan or Korea and they can be pretty much anything – from beauty masks to scrubs, serums, eye creams, foundation etc.

Before we get into the review, please note that this is a sample review. This is basically my first impression of using the product and how it felt during the week that the sample lasted. I feel that if I like a product on the first try, it means it did its job and so I will most likely continue using it – your skin not reacting the same way 3 months into using the product doesn’t mean it’s gone bad, it just means that you need to switch up your routine a bit because your skin has gotten used to it.

With that being said, let’s move onto the first product: SK-II Whitening Source Dermdefinition UV Lotion.

Here’s the product description, as taken from the site

Formulated with Theo-amino Acid, a potent antioxidant, and Pitter, the WS Dermdefinition UV Lotion delivers the following skin benefits: spot prevention, tone improvement, prevention of sebum oxidation, instantaneous penetration of active ingredients and long lasting hydration. A noticeable improvement in skin texture can be seen after a few days of use, while skin becomes healthier and more vibrant with prolonged use. Use as the last step in a cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine.

This is basically one of those moisturizers that also does EVERYTHING else under the sun :P After just one application, my skin looked smoother, more even, felt moisturized but also looked mat, and the cream also has SPF 50+ protection! Foundation goes on a lot easier after applying this product. Even though it is listed as a lotion, think more of a face cream texture or sun screen (without the stickiness) as it is very concentrated and a little goes a long way.

If you don’t feel like wearing foundation or even BB cream but have some problems with uneven skin tone, this is definitely a product to try out!

On the down side of things, it’s a bit expensive (yesstyle has it for €60.82 for 30g of product) so it’s definitely an investment – but a good one, none the less. If you find it anywhere else for less, please comment below so we can all benefit :P

Product Review: Laneige BlackHead Melting Gel

Hello and a happy Wednesday to you!!!

During my quest to eliminate the blackheads that have inhabited my nose since my early teens, I came across the Laneige Blackhead Melting Gel and decided to give it a try. Yesstyle.com is my go-to source for anything that has to do with beauty products from Asia (or products that are popular in Asia) and since my skin tone is very light it’s safe to say that I find a number of Asian beauty products that suit me.

I have very deep blackheads on my nose that become very difficult to remove – not to mention painful – and I have tried all other methods of removal: pore strips, steaming the face or using face masks made for treating blackheads. None of them worked :( This was my first time every trying a melting gel and I was eager to see if it would work!

Product Description

So the Laneige Blackhead Melting Gel is a self-heating gel that becomes warm once it comes in contact with the skin. You’re supposed to pump the gel onto the skin using the side pump on the devise and then massage the area that needs treatment in a circular motion, using the silicon brush. The instructions say to wait 20 seconds (after massaging) for the gel to set in and then wash the area with lukewarm water.

The silicon brush is very soft and easy to use while the gel heats up immediately so you can feel it working while you’re using it. The bottle the gel comes in is a thick plastic material and the cap for the brush is the same.

Product Performance

Honestly, I am a little in-between about this product: At first, I wasn’t really impressed. Even though I felt the gel removing the dirt and extra sebum, it didn’t do much with removing my deep blackheads. It also left my nose a bit dry and flaky afterwards but that was only for the first couple of times. I thought I should make a decision after a few days of using it and I have come to the conclusion that on its own, the Laneige Blackhead Melting Gel does absolutely nothing for my deep pores.

However…

Given the proper assistance, the gel can work. So, one method of making it more effective is this: after washing the face with lukewarm water (as the instructions state), proceed with clearing out the blackheads using ear buds or by wrapping your nails with tissue. Then, you can also use a scrub made for daily use and gently scrub the area that needs treatment. Rinse and then use the gel. By using this method, I have come to see a reduction in the number of blackheads on my nose. Granted it’s not the best or easiest method (and it does take a bit of time) but when testing out the gel, this is the best use I could get out of it.

Conclusion

This gel might be a great product for someone with a smaller blackhead problem.

If you’re not willing to find out a way to fit it into your treatment for deep blackheads, then don’t bother, it won’t do much for you.

The whole packaging is very hygienic and travel friendly.

You can’t tell how much product is left which is a bit disappointing.

Lovely Me:ex - Magic Pink Powder Mask Review

Hello :)

Today’s post will be a review of a product I recently purchased from Yesstyle.com. It’s called the Lovely Me:ex – Magic Pink Powder Mask (in Blue)

As you might know I am a sucker for any skin product that contains salicylic acid, which has helped me tremendously with my mild acne and this mask contains that as well as calamine and other ingredients that promise “…a flawless solution in easing skin problems and provides care for troubled skin areas by softening flaky, dead skin cells”.

Product description:

The Me:ex – Magic Powder Mask comes in a container shaped like a little kid’s face, which has to be the cutest packaging ever! The box it came in also has the same design on the front and something written in Korean… I can’t read it, but I’m sure it says lovely things hehe

For those of you who don’t understand Korean, the box has instructions in English on the side. Overall, you get a warm, fuzzy feeling just by looking at the packaging, let alone experiencing the magic inside :P

The texture of the mask itself is very unique. I wouldn’t exactly describe it as powder (even though the product name contains the word); it’s more of a gel meets cream texture… Even though it dries completely to a powdery substance while you have it on, it kind of looks like sorbet ice cream in its container ;P

And it smells like ice cream too!

Here is a close up where you can better see the color and the texture of the mask

The product description also states that you should apply this mask after applying toner. I am not the biggest fan of using facial masks after applying skin care products so I just skipped that step. I am pleased to report that my skin did not react badly to this decision – and I have pretty sensitive skin so it was a bit of a risk :S

Product Performance:

Like I mentioned before, the mask dries completely within 10-15 minutes and then you’re supposed to rinse off with lukewarm water and carry on with your regular skin care routine. To be honest with you, I pretty much expected the best from this mask (because of the salicylic acid) and I got what I wanted: my skin tone looked even, smooth, the redness was gone and I looked like I had just woken up from my beauty sleep. It didn’t irritate my skin in any way and I have to say that this is the most soothing face mask I currently own; from beginning to the end, all it does even after I remove it is sooth my skin and make it velvet soft as well as hydrated :)

…Concluding:

Product packaging: cutest, most fun thing EVER

Product performance: AWESOME. Great for people with sensitive, flaky, dry skin or anyone who wants a good product that delivers but doesn’t irritate.

Yesstyle.com has this product listed as 13.38 euro (or $18), which is a bit pricy but totally worth the investment.

✔ Always test the products on a small surface beforehand, just to be on the safe side of things ;)

Let me know if you try this out and what your thoughts are in the comment section below!!!
