The Devil's in the Details

Having to paint your nails every two or three days cuz your regular polish chips can be annoying but also requires a lot of time and money. That’s why all the “permanent” solutions are so popular. There are a lot of different options, such as silk, acrylic, gel and the newest UV gel nail polish, many of which you can do at home as well! Having experienced all of these options, I can enlighten you if you want to find the best option for you.

-      Acrylic: It has been a long time since it was in fashion. A lot of people find acrylic nails fake looking and, in my opinion, if you don’t have a problem with your nail length (if you don’t chew on them or if they naturally break), don’t try them. It’s impossible to put them on alone, but even if you go to a nail salon, when you take them off your nails will be weak, thin and damaged. It takes them a lot of time to recover and you might have to spend extra money on their recovery.

-      Silk: It’s a great solution because the result is more natural looking. Your nails won’t be destroyed after you take them off but it’s also pretty difficult to do it alone at home. But, if you are a fan of colors, like me, you’ll find a disadvantage in the fact that they only come in the style of French manicure.

-      Gel: Well, my almost favorite. If you have some time to spend learning how to do it alone, you can do it at home! It’s not very easy, but it’s not too hard either. It demands a lot of time but the result is great, natural and it doesn’t chip. There are plenty of colors to choose from. It makes your nails stronger as long as you wear it. The only disadvantage is that when you eventually take it off your nails will be weak, but not weak enough to crack or become damaged.

-      UV Gel Polish: I can’t hide that this is my favorite. It’s so easy; the process is exactly the same as painting your nails with an ordinary nail polish. The only extra thing you need to do is to put every layer under the UV light for 2-3 minutes. And then, your nails are shiny and strong, same as in the Gel technique, for at least 20 days. There are also a lot of colors to choose from. It takes me about 30 minutes to do it but for 20 days I don’t have to worry about my nails, because afterwards they are perfect; also, UV Gels can’t be scratched, so the product remains shiny and flawless.
