Skin79 BB Cream Review

Hi guys,

Here is a detailed review of four Skin79 BB creams that I purchased recently from yesstyle.com. They came in sample sizes, each lasting a week or more (depending on the amount you personally use). I was really excited to test these because sampling new products is a great way to find the perfect fit for your skin type and discover new products, but also a way to avoid purchasing a large package of a product that ends up being a bad fit!

First, we have the Super Plus BB Triple Perfection that comes in a fun hot pink package.

It lists that it has whitening, wrinkle improvement and UV protection features; its consistency is also thicker than the other BB creams I have used over time. However, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and I can even say that it blends perfectly despite its thicker texture. What I love about this BB cream is that it can instantly make the skin look more illuminated and well-rested and it can also double up as concealer. I have even used it as a primer for my lids (I have pretty oily lids) and it has worked, because of its texture. I can’t say I saw much of a wrinkle improvement while using this product, but maybe it needs more than a week of using to see a difference. However, it instantly makes dark circles and redness go away which contributes to a more well-rested and natural look without whitening the face.

Next we have the Super Plus BB Cream – VIP Gold Collection.

This BB creams focuses more on improving wrinkles and protecting the skin from UV exposure due to its golden caviar extracts. Its texture is similar to the Triple Perfection BB cream listed above, offering perfect coverage, evening of the skin tone, illumination and moisture. However, this BB cream's action does focus more on wrinkles and after only a week of using it, I can say I have seen a small improvement on the wrinkles and small marks around my eye area. My problem wasn’t big to begin with, so perhaps this isn’t a product for someone looking to cure deeper-set wrinkles but none the less, I was impressed by how this product worked with my skin. Overall, the difference between the hot pink Triple Function BB cream and the VIP Gold Collection BB Cream is not huge, so don’t worry too much on missing something out by not trying them both :P

This is the Diamond Collection – The Prestige BB cream.

So, this is one of my favorite BB creams to this day, even though I am now torn between this and the Triple Function/VIP Gold BB creams.  I have talked about this BB cream in a previous post where I compared and contrasted it with the Boscia BB cream, so I won’t say much. I will add however, that the consistency is less thick than the Triple Function/VIP Gold BB creams and you might sometimes need to double it up to cover certain areas. Its texture is great, very nourishing and moisturizing and it also has caviar, Adenogen, Butene, Aloe extracts, Latin America Hadatamo, Peptide MX Complex, Lotus extracts and a variety of other elements that aim to restore the skin, hydrate, protect and maintain elasticity. Still, one of my favorite BB creams to date.

Lastly, the fourth BB cream is the BB Diamond Collection Pearl – Luminous Beblesh Balm.

This BB cream has shimmering/glitter features... Not a fan of these products at all. Glitter is ok ONLY on Halloween or if your profession requires it for some reason… Otherwise, you just look like you did something illegal to a pixie fairy... Overall, not practical at all, however this is why samples exist. If you bought this at a store or (worse) ordered it online without getting a chance to test it out at all, that would’ve been money down the drain… None the less, if you do end up with this product and you’re not into the whole “Tinkerbelle face” thing, I figured out a way to use it productively: as an eyelid primer. If anything it ends up looking like a glittering eye shadow and it adds a little extra to your eye makeup without looking overdone ;)

Alone at christmas?

First of all not having a relationship doesn't mean you are alone..but a lot of people tend to think that way so...here are some tips so you won't let that depress you

1. First of all THINK POSITIVE! Its Christmas... there are parties and people tend to feel closer with each other..so I find it a perfect opportunity to flirt ..or even find a mate!

2. If your friends are not the party animals you need this time of year... Don't worry... there are plenty of people you know that would be glad to invite you in their events if they knew you wanna go... so don't be afraid to say out loud that you wanna have a great time and that you are willing to go to allot of events! Let people know!

3. Try to find other people that feel the same way as you... A group of three not so close friends that gathered together in order to crash every party of the town and have a great time... may have a better time than a group of 10 people that tend to hang out all the time and went out again all together just because its Christmas and they have to be with their closest friends!

4. Finally if you are a woman/girl think of all the free time you have in your vacations. You can use this free time to do all those things u didn't have time to... Pamper yourself, shopping, beauty masks for the face or even the body... and if you can afford it why not a spa-day? It can make you feel better about yourself, much more confident and who knows? Confidence and your positive thinking may bring you a new love in your life!

Traveler's Guide to Ireland - Part 3

Saint Patrick’s Day in Dublin:

My friend and I were told that Dublin is the place to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day and I’m pretty sure that that’s true. Head back to the train/bus Station in Galway and make sure you arrive early enough in the day (basically, don’t arrive in the afternoon and miss the parade). And yes, wear something green, it’s Saint Patrick’s Day. The parade is really interesting to watch, there are local schools participating and different sections of the military are in it as well. Oh, and you get to see a dude dressed as a drunken Pope running around and leading the parade (not sure if this is an annual thing though…).
So, here are some snapshots from the parade... There were so many participants that it was impossible to take pictures of all of them!

Some of the "vehicles" the particpants rode in...

Once the parade is over, head to the pubs or walk around, Dublin is absolutely ideal for sightseeing. There’s a river crossing through the city and bridges connecting one side to the other – no fees. There are various musical festivals taking place all throughout the city during Saint Patrick’s Day, but if you have a certain artist in mind that you know is performing that day and you’re dying to see, ask for someone helping out at the Saint Patrick’s Day festival to tell you where exactly he’ll be performing. Some of the people I saw that day were performing in the most bizarre little streets and I would’ve passed by them without even knowing.

If you’re interested in attending one of the big music concerts, you will get to hear a mixture of modern Irish folk, rock or even traditional Irish music, all of which are amazing! I even got to participate in a contest that was meant to be put in the Guinness Book of Records: at a given time we were all asked to repeat a phrase in Irish Gaelic, in the hopes of becoming the largest amount of people to be speaking Gaelic at the same time.

Now, my knowledge of Irish Gaelic is next to nothing so I’m not sure if we were wishing for world peace or calling someone’s mother a fat cow, but it was really fun! I didn’t get to see many tourist places in Dublin since most of the day I was taking pictures in the parade and conversing with the locals and visitors from all over the world but I’m sure that if you get a tourist guide, you can go wherever you want; it’s an easy city to navigate through.

If you’re planning on spending the night in Dublin (or anywhere on Saint Patrick’s Day) make sure that you book your hostel in time! Hostels are a great way to save money in Ireland: they’re cheap, they’re clean and it feels like you live in a nice little community for as long as you’re there, but that’s ONLY if you book them in time!!! Even though we took a late night bus back to Belfast to stay there instead, everything was booked days in advance. We ended up spending the night with three other guys we didn’t know in a tiny room where one bed was stuck next to the other, the bathroom was down the hall but the sink was in the room next to the last bed, the heat went on and off and the door didn’t lock. To top it all off, we didn’t get to see our “roommates” at all; my friend and I went to bed as soon as we got into the room and we heard them stumbling in, completely wasted at around 4am. We woke up a couple of hours later to find them sleeping in various places of the room – thankfully nowhere near our beds. Lesson learned…

The next day I hopped on the bus to the airport and headed back to New York to finish my final semester as an undergraduate. The tunes of the Irish songs I knew and had the chance to finally hear live for the first time in their country of birth accompanied me to the airport and on the journey back. I’m all for trips that “feed your soul” and Ireland definitely did that for me. So, I highly recommend a visit there and…

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

and rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand

(An old Irish blessing)

My Current Skin Care Routine

First of all, the key to a successful skin care routine is to… listen to your skin! If, for example, you feel that your skin changed according to weather and seasons, then you will have to accommodate to that. I always seemed to develop a more oily skin when I was home in Europe, but when I was in America I had a more dry and mat skin texture, so I had to switch my skin care routine a little bit. However, there are some basic steps that I swear by and I want to share them with you J

1.     Cleanse: Cleaning your skin after a long day is very important so as to prevent break outs and not allow all the dirt from outside to stay on your face and/or transfer on your pillow (to later end up on your face)! Because I’m a lazy girl and don’t have the patience to cleanse my face with multiple products, I opt for cleansing wipes instead! Olay’s 7 in 1 wipes also contain nourishing elements that moisturize my skin, so I don’t have to put additional products on later. Oh, and they are gentle enough that I can use them to remove eye makeup as well!

2.    Eye Cream: Invest in a good eye cream, it’s worth it. The area around the eyes needs special treatment because it’s very sensitive and susceptible to irritation. You don’t need to spend a lot of money for an effective eye cream, just find the one that works for you. I have been using Olay’s 7 in 1 Eye Transformation Cream for the past couple of weeks and before that I used Roc’s Retinol Eye Treatment and they are very different but both work great for me. Neither where recommended to me, but a good way to test different creams without spending money on something that might not work for you is to get samples of all the creams you’re interested in and test them out! See if your skin feels nourished after using an eye cream and it doesn’t feel like it’s “tugging" or "pulling".

3.  Cream/Serum: You can use both or one. A good example of how my skin changes from time to time is this: I had to use both a serum and a hydrating cream in New York, but the cream is useless when I’m home in Europe. I am a huge fan of most Olay products because they are inexpensive and they feel great on my skin.  However, for the longest time I have been using Lancôme’s Genifique Youth activating serum, which is actually very hydrating and doubles up as a cream as well, without being heavy. I have a mixed skin type (oily T-zone and chin, mat cheeks) so I always look for something that can balance my skin and in my experience, a serum has more chances of doing that than a cream.

4.  Facials: Once a weak, I give myself a facial with a clay mask or when my skin is feeling really dry, I use a sheet mask (again from Olay). Clay masks are a life savior because they control break outs, matify the skin, control oiliness and overall make the skin youthful and glowing.

5.  Scrubs: I know that people say that scrubbing your face on a daily basis is bad, but I haven’t seen it affecting my skin. If anything, ever since I started using scrubs with salicylic acid in them, I have seen a great improvement in my mild acne. I used to get small pimples from time to time, but I have gone through entire months without seeing anything after I started using scrubs with salicylic acid! The one I’ve been using (it’s a drugstore product) is Neutrogena’s All-in-1 Acne control. Gentle exfoliation leaves the skin soothe and this allows it to absorb skin products better.

6.  Strips: it’s these strips made out of fabric and infused with nourishing solutions that work great for your skin. They are fantastic little boosters for your skin that can also have anti-aging features! They won’t substitute eye creams or serums but I am absolutely amazed by the results. The ones I bought are from an Asian company so you might be able to find them in Asian markets (if you live near one), or online. But other western companies also make them and they usually aren’t that expensive. I use them once every two weeks or when my skin looks tired.

A Traveler's Guide to Ireland - Part 2

Heading West:

(You’re in Western Ireland now, so exchange whatever money you have – your own currency or left over British pounds from Belfast – into Euro)

My friend’s place was in Galway, so we headed back west, passed through Belfast and arrived in Galway. Galway is known as a cultural center in Ireland and there are numerous festivals taking place throughout the year. Depending on what time of the year you visit, you can attend all sorts of fun events. It’s also one of the few places in Ireland where they still speak Irish Gaelic. Also, there is a difference between Scottish Gaelic and Irish Gaelic – the locals who still speak one or the other, just call it Gaelic.

There are museums and theaters to visit and you should but once you’re done with that, head towards the port and find where Cupan Tae is. The title has a squiggly line over the A and it’s pronounced as if you’re saying “Cup and Tea” really fast.

This place has the most awesome tea flavors from all over the world and you can also buy them in bulk. It’s also a nice place for lunch or breakfast because they have sandwiches and the like. Overall, I visited this place every single day I was in Galway and it’s one of my loveliest memories (probably cuz I love good food as much as I like to travel).

Once you’ve had enough tea for one day, take a walk towards the docks and the beach. There are swans swimming nearby which was a first for me, and then… there’s the beach. I don’t know what it is with the beaches in Ireland, but every time I came near one in that country I felt as if I was walking into a dream land. Again… pictures are worth a thousand words.

My Birthday at the edge of the World – Cliffs of Moher

I was fortunate enough to have two things coinciding with my trip to Ireland. One, my birthday fell in the middle of my visit and two, I got to experience Saint Patrick’s day in Ireland. It’s the same with Guinness; you might hate it while you’re anywhere else but once you try it in Ireland, it makes all the sense in the world. I didn’t hate Saint Patrick’s Day before I went to the Emerald Isle, but I can safely say that I had the proper experience of this celebration in the right place.

So, my birthday is on March 13th and my (awesome) friend was kind enough to give me a day trip as a birthday present. We joined a tour group leaving Galway and heading southwest – the final destination being the Cliffs of Moher. I unfortunately don’t remember the name of our tour guide but he is easily the funniest person in (at least) Ireland. His tour started with visits to old castles and lakes, and also a fairy’s circle, which consists of a circle formed by trees where it is believed that fairies come at night to discuss the problems that you have mentally left there for them to examine. It’s a very nice spiritual gesture to participate in, even if you don’t believe in that kind of stuff.

The castles we saw were tied to important historical events and even included the stories of some very brave Irish women (yay girl power). In between castles and lakes and old tombs, we were also informed that our tour guide is happily married but would love to get rid of his mother in law, that we could all participate if we felt like it and that all real Irish men always sleep with one eye open because of their feisty Irish wives. He also told us about a festival that takes place in a village that we passed by: all the single girls can find a husband on that day because there’s a matchmaking ceremony going on. So there’s a guy out there for everyone – or, as the tour guide put it, “an old fart with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel”.

This is an old Irish tomb that we visited during our tour. The cracks on the rocks surrounding it (that are now filled with grass) have been caused by the constant rainfalls in Ireland!!!

As mentioned before, our final destination was the Cliffs of Moher. And this is literally what the edge of the world must look like. The world’s not round, it ends at the Cliffs of Moher and you can certainly verify that when you’re standing on the edge of one of the cliffs, the wind blowing, and the sea waayyyy beneath you. It’s a “if you’re afraid of heights, don’t look down” situation, but totally worth it. You can walk along each cliff as the mountain they’re on goes higher and higher and when you do reach the last one, take a look behind you: you’ll find yourself between air, water and grass and nothing but open land and sea for miles.

So here are some pictures from the Cliffs of Moher!!!

P.s There’s a fence made of rock and wood that’s supposed to let you know how close you can get to the cliffs without falling. I would stick near that fence – even if I totally didn’t on that day and got some pretty amazing shots to prove it. Yes, it was a good birthday.

When you get back to Galway and just in time for Saint Patrick’s Day, have a drink at any of the local pubs that has live music. You’ll listen to some nice Irish folk songs in Irish Gaelic or in English from local mucisians that might also be students at the University in Galway and you’re totally welcomed to sing along :)

(End of part 2)
